Panic bar according to DIN EN 1125

The safety of people must be the focus when planning and equipping buildings. The securing of escape and rescue routes is of particular importance here. Special solutions for escape doors must allow quick escape in case of emergency. For this purpose, it should be possible to open the emergency exits without major effort by means of a handle and without prior knowledge of the user about the operation of the panic lock. HEWI panic bars can be operated intuitively with minimal effort and therefore meet the requirements of DIN EN 1125 for panic locks.

To meet the requirements of DIN EN 1125, the panic bar may only be used with jointly tested and certified locks. HEWI panic bars are approved with numerous lock manufacturers (Assa Abloy, BMH, Fuhr, GEZE, Grundmann, KFV, MSL, DOM and Wilka). Recently, the combination with locks from BKS has also been possible.

Two-senses principle

Sight decreases significantly with advancing age and thus represents a limitation for broad sections of the population. In order for people with poor eyesight to find their way around buildings, information must be presented in high contrast and according to the two-senses principle (DIN 18040). At least two senses (seeing, hearing or feeling) should be addressed simultaneously. This can compensate for the missing or limited perception via another sense. In the case of the panic bar, operation is conveyed via two senses: the doubled-up handle area made of colored polyamide makes handling visualized and can also be grasped tactilely. The door opens when pressure is applied against the horizontal operating rod. By marking the optimum pressure point according to the two-senses principle, the panic bar meets the requirements of DIN 18040 for barrier-free construction.

Sophisticated technology

The minimized mechanism with the narrow gear unit enables a particularly slim design of the panic bar. A collision of door frame and panic bar is impossible, due to the narrow gear and the positioning of the bar on the inside of the gear. This also guarantees freedom from jamming for double leaf doors. Precise installation is particularly easy due to the telescopic nature (710 - 1580 mm) of the panic bar.
